Twenty one seed pods/to make a five pointed star/A conifers heart
Oh it’s a miserable wet and cold day today and I was feeling rather uninspired as I trudged around with cold fingers toes and nose. But in the end I got there.
Cold grey rainy day/Perseverance is required/And wet weather gear
It’s available this weekend and we are opening the doors to the studio too an no extra cost if you fancy getting a bit creative. The community markets are on this Sunday ( my personal favourite- where the locals rock up selling the veggies from their own garden- gotta love that) and if you’re a vinyl fan the record fair is on at Glenbrook too. It’s a good weekend to be up. If you’d like to book find us on Airbnb.com.au/rooms/12530812?S or follow the link on @twiceluckyblackheath
We’ll be here too and if the weather holds we might nip down to the lookout for a glass of wine at sunset – you could join us. Cheers!
On a dirt track with my new mountain bike this morning rediscovering my local ‘hood from a different perspective. Found a giant twisted length of wire and did a spot of basketry then sped on up the hill.
Red dirt rusty wire/ A shiny new mountain bike/ Monday’s adventure
I went for a walk today and came home empty handed probably because I just knew that I had to make something with yesterday’s delivery of road base and concrete dust that will shortly all be spread over our front yard. So here we are. Heavy stuff when piled up in wheelbarrows but looking delicate and jewel like right now.
6 tons of gravel/To spread across the driveway/All in a days work.
Many people grow proteas up here. It seems like very other house has a mature rangy protea bush in flower in their front garden. So I planted one in ours yesterday too just to keep up. I know they aren’t strictly a native plant but they might as well be.
Cold hands in dark soil/Planting protea, like me/Almost a native.
I think the most successful compositions are the ones that have minimal interference from me. Just a little bit of gathering and reorganising of nature and that’s it. Not always possible but today in this lovely quiet pine forest on my neighbours property, it was.
Lovely tiny white trumpet like flowers sprinkled with pink bits are out on the tea tree bushes at the moment. Look like they are dusted with snow. But no snow today – it’s a clear blue sky in Blackheath this morning.
Well finding these little lovelies certainly made me smile whilst foraging the streets of Blackheath!
It snowed yesterday! Always such treat and I even drove through blizzard like conditions to get home last night. Excellent.
We will be running a LookDrAwPrint workshops at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre later in the year. Interested in signing up? Let me know. @mtnsmade @bluemountainsculturalcentre @lookdrawprint
