One A Day 29 : 365 Composition with banksia petals and damp plywood.

28 / 365 Composition with banksia petals and damp plywood. The pale delicate lemon stalks and soft lilac buds on the rusty wet wood with a background of grey mud and dead rhododendron leaves. Another composition all about colour found in nature. #oneaday #patersononeaday

A close up of the banksia flower. It was found on the road – must have snapped off the branch by the storm over the weekend. Or maybe another cockatoo.

One A Day 28:365 Composition with seeds and road sign.

27/365 Composition with seeds and road sign. Back in the bush this morning on a track I took a few weeks ago with a bundle of seeds I collected onmy way there. There's a gusty wind this morning so no opportunity for a fancy composition just natural disarray contrasting against the sharp diagonal. Kinda sums me up really...

One A Day 27:365 Composition with wild fennel, grass tree leaves and tyre.

26/365 Composition with wild fennel, grass tree leaves and tyre. That sweet faded blue rim of the old tyre I spied ages ago on a dog walk and today near by gathered some fennel - the greenish yellow a perfect compliment to the blue and the dull green blades of grass make a lovely palette cleanser. This one is about colour more than composition. #patersononeaday #oneaday

Today I worked with a sweetly faded blue rim of the old tyre that I spied ages ago on a dog walk. Wild fennel was growing nearby  – the greenish yellow a perfect compliment to the blue and the dull green blades of a grass tree make a lovely faded summer palette with the charcoal tyre making a good frame.

This one is about colour more than composition.

I’m part of this day.

creative women

A day of conversation with loads of great women chatting all about creativity and the like. An excellent  line up and I’m really looking forward to it.

I have a show that is quietly touring.

I have a show that is quietly touring selected regional towns that has been organized and coordinated by Object / ADC. It rolls into Gosford next week and Friday is the opening night. I'll be there - would love to see you if you're up that way. It's a lovely gallery run by lovely staff Gosford Regional 36 Webb StreetEast Gosford NSW 2250

One A Day 25:365 Composition with fallen petals rock and river.

24:365 Composition with fallen petals rock and river. Been in Gosford today discussing my exhibition that opens here at the regional gallery next week. Took a moment to explore the mangrove fringed river before heading home. Not sure what theses exotic looking petals are but they I found them floating in the water from a tree on the bank. #patersononeaday

One A Day 24/365 Composition with pipe clamp hose and pot.

23/365 Composition with pipe clamp hose and pot. I'm hanging out in a treasure trove today. Canal road film centre where I have a little bit of temporary rented workshop space. The place is PERfECt for finding stuff. This composition was the result of a quick trip to the loo. I should come here more often! #oneaday #patersononeaday

One A Day 23:365 Composition with fallen leaves and bark.

22:365 Composition with fallen leaves and bark. Always was, always will be. #rememberenceday #patersononeaday #oneaday

Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.

Today is Australia day, Survival day, Invasion day. A day that holds complicated complex feelings for me and many many people. A quiet, introspective and appreciative kind of day for me.

One A Day 22:365 Composition with scribbly gum bark circles.

22:365 Composition with scribbly gum bark circles. The gum trees are shedding their skin and on this foggy damp day the strips of bark littering the ground are all lovely and pliable. I was able to roll long strips into rounds and build a small structure at the start of the walking tracks at Govetts Leap. The foggy backdrop adding a lovely air of mystery. And that orange colour- delicious!

And this is one of the scribbly gums – sans bark.

One A Day 21:365 Composition with blackberries and dumped wood.

blackberries

Neither of these things should be there on the track in the bush on the edge of a World Heritage listed National Park. Invasive weeds and illegal dumping of someones house renovations. But they were, sad but true.

Berries tasted good though. Autumn is clearly just around the corner.

One A Day 20:365 Composition with banksia cones and edge of road.

20:365 Composition with banksia cones and edge of road. Banksias are subtle, sophisticated, strong. My favourite combination.

These banksias are subtle and strong and sculptural, camouflaged against the side of the road after a downpour on my morning walk.

And then in the afternoon came along a second version. A composition with deconstructed  pine cone flakes.

This is what happens sometimes – You get an even better #oneaday than the one posted earlier. I was in Lawson at Diana’s house picking up some of my artwork and materials that she had stored for me for sometime. I noticed the lovely and unusual pine tree in her garden with bits of pine cone scattered everywhere – from the cockatoos probably looking for the seeds.

cone

The pine cone shapes looked a bit like a Victorian wallpaper motif, a fleur de lys almost, so I made a pattern and left it behind to say I’d dropped in.
