An interview for Have Mic Will Travel podcast

Elizabeth Santry asks good questions. Her podcast Have Mic Will Travel is built on a mission to research the humanity that lies within creativity.  She recently came to Australia and I was her first interview of the trip. This is a nice listen with Elizabeth’s lovely radio voice getting me to relax whilst we sit on my porch and talk about my practice and  process and what my Blue mountains studio means to me. Listen here.

Whilst the Seeds To Bloom exhibition was on at Object I had a go at brightening up the street corner out side. I know that corner well – I’ve made other attempts at working with this space before. It’s always been quite tricky there but the spots gave it some life. Spots  do that, they are such energetic things.

The bunting didn’t last though. Gone in a day.

An old friend Melissa in Melbourne just sent me this pic.

An old friend Melissa in Melbourne just sent me this pic of a lovely vintage chair she upholstered many years ago in Curly on red hemp. Curly was the very first design we put into production in 1995. And I think from memory Melissa upholstered the chair herself just a few years later. A bloody good job lady.

A bundle of printed off cuts.

A bundle of printed off cuts wrapped up getting ready to be posted to a girl called Paquita. She is doing a project on hemp and I picked out some good bits from my off cut stash just for her.

All wrapped up ready to be posted to a girl called Paquita. She has a small business making things and focusses on hemp as her main material. She asked if I could send her a bundle. So I hand picked out some good bits from my favourite fabric stash, wrapped them up and off they go to Victoria. Lets see what she does with them.

My favourite piece I’ve done all week was the first piece.

My favourite piece I've done all week was the first piece. Nothing to do with Waratahs so completely off brief but I think this technique and subject matter has lots of potential. I rarely work this big either so it's all new ground all round.

Ive been working at The State Library all week and this painting I did last Sunday is my favourite thing Ive created. Nothing to do with Waratahs,  completely off the brief I was given, but I think this technique and subject matter has lots of potential. I rarely work this big either so it’s all new ground all round.
